ACE Economics:

Economics at ACE is an introductory course into the role of both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.  Students will be introduced into the major principles and concepts of economics and students will be better able to identify economic practice through real-world applications. Students will be able to analyze both our own economic system and the role of global economies in the modern world.  Lastly, students will acquire the thinking skills needed to evaluate their own role in shaping economies and the role in which they are shaped by economic ideas.

Link: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/02/09/opinion/minimum-wage.html

1) Link onto the NYT minimum wage calculator and analyze the different costs, selection options, and information on the site.
2) Select three different minimum wage options: California, a $7.25 State (Idaho, Virginia, Missouri, Texas, etc.), and Washington State.
3) Select rent at $800 for a one bedroom apartment or $1000 for a two bedroom apartment, then select your own expenditures based off multiples
of $100.
4) On the back of your document analysis paper, answer the following questions for each of these states:
           a. What do you notice about the cost of living vs. the minimum wage within each state?
           b. What are some of the potential challenges that you notice facing workers within each of
                these three states?
           c. How does this calculator better explain the issue(s) facing workers in Idaho?
Due at the end of the period

**** When you are finished with this assignment, you may work within your groups to either finish your project (Being presented on Friday) or you
